Though living in the dorms, I have a rice cooker and few supplies and I have always wondered, what happens if I dissect the components to a baked good and steam it? (as my only heat source was the steamer area which the type of rice cooker I bought online allows me to detach the lid so I use a upside down metal bowl as the lid for things that are higher then a normal closed lid) With dairy/moisture, flour/binder, and something that leavens, in this case, mineral water and the pancake mix's baking soda/powder that is already present and with my only heat available which was the rice cooker in the dorm, I was somewhat limited to steaming or heating from the bottom of the rice cooker (which takes at least 2-3 times as long if you throw some cake batter in there, better to use the steamer function and steam it).
With my wonderful silicone cups I also purchased online, I mixed together some melted ice cream, a splash of mineral water, sneaked in some nutella, and dumped some pancake mix until it was a slightly thick batter to pour in. A smart thing I recently pinged in my head, boil the water that is going to be used for steaming in my water boiler I use for my tea set (which by the way a wonderful thing to pair with, next time I might just use normal milk and some sugar in place of ice cream and maybe a dab of jam in the center if I want it with tea). Steamed it for about 15 minutes (the only numerical thing I kept track throughout this whole venture, sorry!) They are awesome best fresh as most things are, but nothing something like this to warm me up on a winter day in the dorms on campus.
